Fossan Launches City Council Campaign

Stephanie Fossan is running for La Cañada City Council to bring dynamic and pragmatic leadership to the city.
Her priorities include safety, outreach, planning, climate preparedness, strengthened relationships with the schools, and support for our seniors.
“I love this town and the sense of community it has provided to me and my family,” Fossan said. “I’m motivated to run because I believe we can be more proactive in building the La Cañada of the future with strong community outreach, communications, and a long-term strategic plan.”
Fossan is a 14-year resident who has served on the La Cañada Flintridge Educational Foundation board and as president. She later became a trustee for the LCFEF Endowment Fund. She also served as co-chair for the Measure LCF bond committee and as disaster preparedness chair for the PCY PTA. She is currently co-president of the La Cañada High School Choral Parents Association.
Fossan received a bachelor’s in political science and an MBA from Stanford University. She served as a diplomat in London and Beijing for the U.S. State Department. After business school, she worked as a digital product executive at Yahoo, EarthLink, Oracle and startups, Vitrue and SocialFlow. Fossan left SocialFlow last year after a successful acquisition.
Fossan and her husband, Kai Ryssdal, moved to Southern California for his job as host of the public radio program “Marketplace.”
All four Ryssdal children attended La Cañada Unified School District schools. The youngest is currently a junior at LCHS.
