LCF Housing Element Deemed ‘Substantially Compliant’

The California Department of Housing and Community Development has listed the city of La Cañada Flintridge as “substantially compliant” with the Housing Element law, recognizing the city’s diligent efforts to address housing needs and promote sustainable community development.
“The housing element, a critical component of the city’s general plan, serves as a comprehensive blueprint for addressing housing challenges and ensuring that La Cañada Flintridge remains a vibrant and inclusive community,” the city said in a statement. “The state’s acknowledgment of substantial compliance reflects the city’s commitment to meeting its fair share of regional housing needs while maintaining the unique character of the community.”
Mayor Rick Gunter expressed gratitude for the dedication and hard work of city staff, community members and regional partners.
“Achieving this listing, while occurring well after we believe we had submitted a substantially compliant housing element, is a testament to our community’s commitment to inclusive growth, responsible urban planning and the expansion of housing options,” Gunter said. “La Cañada Flintridge remains a city that values its residents, their input, and the unique character that makes our community a special place to call home.”
The city said it will continue its efforts to address housing challenges, working closely with the community to implement the housing element and uphold its commitment to a sustainable and equitable future.
