La Cañada Gains Experience at Glendora Tournament

The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ basketball team lost to Ontario Christian 54-51 in their Glendora Tournament finale on Dec. 9.
Senior captain Jack Reynolds recorded 18 points and three rebounds, while junior Josh Pastor tallied 16 points, six rebounds, five steals and two assists. Senior Anders Petersen finished with six points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals, senior Spencer Moravec scored nine points, and senior Dhilon Gupta chipped in two points. Senior Jensen Karlich registered one steal and one rebound, while senior Shervin Naini contributed one block and one rebound. Junior Diyon Silva was credited with two assists, while junior Saad Bangash had one rebound.
The Spartans lost to Bishop Amat High of La Puente 57-54 in a tournament game on Dec. 8.
Petersen registered 14 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals, Pastor finished with 14 points, four rebounds, three steals and three assists, and Reynolds tallied 14 points, two assists and one rebound. Moravec recorded six points and three rebounds, while Karlich contributed six points, two rebounds and one assist. Gupta collected two rebounds and one assist, while Bangash had one rebound.
LCHS suffered a 74-59 loss against Quartz Hill in a tournament game on Dec. 5.
Pastor racked up 22 points, four rebounds, two steals and one assist, while junior Josh Proctor contributed 18 points, seven rebounds, three assists and one steal. Reynolds tallied eight points, two steals and two assists, while Moravec registered six points and one rebound. Petersen finished with six rebounds, one block, one point and one assist, while senior Matthew Herrick and junior Julian Morillo each chipped in two points. Naini had one block and one rebound, while senior Conor Banks collected one rebound and one assist.
The Spartans (4-7 overall) will host South Pasadena for a Rio Hondo League game on Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. before visiting St. Francis for a nonleague game on Dec. 20 at 7 p.m.

FLINTRIDGE PREP

Flintridge Prep senior captain William Bigby scored 14 points to help the Wolves beat Rio Hondo Prep in their Prep League opener on Dec 11

The Wolves extended their win streak to eight games after beating visiting Rio Hondo Prep of Arcadia 73-37 in their Prep League opener on Dec. 11 as senior captain Henry Morrison racked up 24 points.
Senior captain William Bigby and junior Lawson Holland each registered 14 points, while senior captain Steven Ng finished with 13 points. Sophomores Owen Willingham and Barrett Jackson each scored three points, while senior Noah Willingham chipped in two points.
Flintridge Prep defeated host Bishop Diego High in Santa Barbara 70-53 in a nonleague matchup on Dec. 9.
Morrison amassed 28 points, while Holland registered 16 points. Ng tallied seven points, Bigby scored six points and junior Malcolm Cook chipped in five points. Noah Willingham and Owen Willingham each scored three points, while Jackson finished with two points.
The Wolves posted a 46-41 nonleague victory at Buckley High in Sherman Oaks on Dec. 7.
Morrison recorded 16 points, while junior Josh Roberts tallied 10 points. Holland contributed seven points, Noah Willingham and Ng each scored five points, and Owen Willingham made a 3-point try.
Flintridge Prep routed host EF Academy 88-18 in a nonleague game on Dec. 5. Individual statistics were not reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
The Wolves (10-1 overall, 1-0 in league) will visit Palos Verdes Chadwick for a league game on Dec. 15 at 4:30 p.m. before visiting La Cañada for a nonleague game on Dec. 22.

ST. FRANCIS
The Golden Knights secured their ninth consecutive victory by defeating visiting Maranatha High 69-41 in a nonleague game on Dec. 7, as junior captain Mazi Mosley amassed 44 points, five rebounds, two assists and one block.
Junior Noah Henry recorded six points, three rebounds, one assist and one steal, while senior Ethan Childs finished with six assists, five points, three rebounds and one steal. Senior Kennedy Mitchell-Egbo tallied four points, four rebounds, two blocks and one steal, while sophomore captain DeLan Grant contributed four rebounds, three points, three assists and two steals. Junior Joe Hickey registered eight rebounds, two points, two steals and one block, junior Liam Selak scored three points with one steal, and junior Ryan Smith contributed two points and one steal. Senior Chris Kalachian produced three rebounds and two steals, junior Dyllen Domingo was credited with three assists, and junior Ben O’Connor had one block, one steal and one assist.
SFHS (9-1) will host Valley Christian High of Chandler, Arizona, for a nonleague game on Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. before hosting Spring Valley High of Las Vegas on Dec. 16. The Golden Knights will then host La Cañada for a nonleague game on Dec. 20.
