Jamie Lewsadder, La Cañada Unified School District’s associate superintendent of technology services, has been featured in an article on government technology following her presentation at the California IT in Education Conference held in Sacramento on Nov. 30.
The article, titled “CITE23: How to Start an AI Task Force at Your School,” discusses the initiatives taken by Lewsadder and her team at LCUSD to navigate the integration of generative artificial intelligence within educational settings. The administrator’s presentation highlighted the district’s pioneering strategy of establishing an “emerging tech council,” aimed at fostering open discussions and formulating ethical guidelines for the implementation of AI in education. The presentation also emphasized the importance of collaborative input from various stakeholders, including faculty, parents, students, and community members, to address concerns and create a framework ensuring safe and responsible use of AI technology.
