La Cañada Edges Flintridge Prep in Crosstown Clash

The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ basketball team lost at St. Francis High 68-44 in a nonleague game on Dec. 20 as senior Anders Petersen registered 17 points, six rebounds, two steals and one block.

Senior Matthew Plocher tallied eight points, four rebounds and one assist, while senior captain Jack Reynolds finished with seven points, three assists and one steal. Junior Josh Pastor contributed seven rebounds, five points, four assists, two steals and one block, while senior Spencer Moravec chipped in five points and two rebounds. Senior Dhilon Gupta produced two points and one steal, while junior Julian Morillo recorded one rebound.
The Spartans posted a 57-52 nonleague victory over visiting Flintridge Prep on Dec. 22.
Pastor racked up 19 points, seven steals, three rebounds and two assists, while Plocher tallied 15 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals. Reynolds finished with 12 points, five rebounds, two assists and one block, while Petersen contributed 10 points, four rebounds, one block and one steal. Senior Jensen Karlich recorded two rebounds and one point, Morillo collected three rebounds, and Gupta had one rebound and one block.
La Cañada (7-8 overall, 2-0 in league) will resume Rio Hondo League play at Monrovia on Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. before traveling to Blair High in Pasadena on Jan. 12.

ST. FRANCIS

The Golden Knights secured a 68-44 nonleague victory over visiting La Cañada on Dec. 20.
Junior captain Mazi Mosley posted a double-double with 22 points, 11 rebounds and one assist, while sophomore captain Delan Grant racked up 15 points, six rebounds, three assists and one steal. Junior Aaron Matthews registered eight points, three rebounds and one assist, while senior Chris Kalachian tallied five points, three rebounds and three assists. Junior Joe Hickey finished with four points, three steals, three rebounds and two assists, senior Ethan Childs contributed four points, two rebounds and two assists, and senior Kennedy Mitchell-Egbo scored four points. Junior Noah Henry chipped in two points, two rebounds, one steal and one assist, junior Ben O’Connor produced two points, one rebound and one assist, and junior Ryan Smith had two points and one assist. Junior Dyllen Domingo had four rebounds and one assist, while junior Liam Selak had one rebound.
St. Francis lost to visiting Bakersfield Christian 76-61 in a nonlegaue game on Dec. 22.
Grant finished with 24 points, three rebounds and three assists, while Mosley registered a double-double with 14 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and one block. Hickey contributed eight points, three rebounds and one steal, while Mitchell-Egbo produced seven rebounds, five points, one steal and one assist. Childs chipped in three points, two rebounds and one steal, while Domingo tallied three points and one rebound. Matthews recorded two points and two rebounds, while Smith was credited with two points and one rebound. Henry had three rebounds and two assists, while Kalachian and O’Connor each had one rebound.
St. Francis (11-3 overall) will finish hosting its Holiday Hoopfest Tournament this week before opening Mission League action at Crespi High in Encino on Jan. 5 at 7 p.m.

FLINTRIDGE PREP

Flintridge Prep freshman Miles Adashek and the Wolves will visit San Marino for a nonleague game on Jan 3

The Wolves lost at La Cañada 57-52 in a nonleague game on Dec. 22.
Senior captain Henry Morrison racked up 20 points, junior Lawson Holland registered 14 points and senior captain Will Bigby scored 11 points. Senior captain Steven Ng and junior Malcolm Cook each chipped in three points, while senior Noah Willingham finished with two points.
Flintridge Prep (12-2, 2-0) will finish competing in the Torrey Pines Tournament this week before visiting San Marino for a nonleague game on Jan. 3 at 6:30 p.m. Flintridge Prep will resume league play at Providence High in Burbank on Jan. 10.
