St. Francis Drops League Opener, La Cañada Eyes Return

The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ basketball team resumed Rio Hondo League play at Monrovia on Jan. 10; the game ended after the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue.
The Spartans (10-9 overall, 2-0 in league) will visit Blair High in Pasadena for a league game on Jan. 12 at 7 p.m. before hosting San Marino on Jan. 17.

St Francis High School junior Joe Hickey had five rebounds and two assists during a Mission League matchup against Crespi High on Jan 5

The Golden Knights lost to visiting San Gabriel Academy 49-46 in a nonleague game on Jan. 6 as junior captain Mazi Mosley racked up 26 points, three rebounds, two steals and two assists.
Senior Ethan Childs finished with five points, three steals, two assists and one rebound, sophomore captain Delan Grant chipped in five points, three rebounds, one block and one assist, and senior Chris Kalachian recorded five points, two assists, one steal and one rebound. Junior Ben O’Connor contributed three points and one rebound, while junior Aaron Matthews registered two points, two rebounds and one assist. Junior Joe Hickey produced three rebounds and one steal, senior Kennedy Mitchell-Egbo tallied two rebounds, one steal, one block and one assist, and junior Noah Henry had one steal.
St. Francis lost at Crespi High in Encino 57-50 in their Mission League opener on Jan. 5 as Mosley amassed 30 points, six rebounds, two assists and one steal.
Grant chipped in six points and one rebound, Childs registered five points, two assists, one steal and one rebound, and Mitchell-Egbo produced four points and one rebound. Henry recorded three points and one assist, while junior Dyllen Domingo tallied three rebounds, two points and one assist. Hickey contributed five rebounds, two assists and one steal, O’Connor and Kalachian each finished with one steal, one assist and one rebound, and Matthews was credited with one assist.
St. Francis (14-6, 0-1) will host Chaminade High of West Hills on Jan. 12 at 7 p.m. before visiting Sierra Canyon High in Chatsworth on Jan. 17.

FLINTRIDGE PREP

Flintridge Prep senior captain Will Bigby scored 10 points during a nonleague matchup against San Marino on Jan 3

The Wolves lost at San Marino 53-47 in a nonleague game on Jan. 3.
Senior captain Henry Morrison finished with 17 points, junior Lawson Holland poured in 13 points and senior captain Will Bigby scored 10 points. Senior Senior Noah Willingham chipped in five points, while junior Malcolm Cook recorded two points.
Flintridge Prep (15-4, 2-0) will visit Pasadena Polytechnic for a Prep League game on Jan. 16 at 6:30 p.m. before traveling to Rio Hondo Prep in Arcadia on Jan. 19.
