Ahmed Announces Campaign for City Council

Lifelong resident, educator and attorney Quemars Ahmed launched his campaign for City Council in his hometown of La Cañada Flintridge.
“I’m excited to announce my candidacy for City Council in the community that raised me, provided me and my family with opportunity, and made me into the leader I am today,” said Ahmed. “I’m running to make sure that our local government is focused on the future of La Cañada Flintridge and does not remain stagnant on important issues from housing for seniors, teachers, and young families, to the environment, to accountability at city hall, and risk putting key decisions into the hands of Sacramento or outside special interests.”
Born and raised in La Cañada Flintridge, Ahmed has served his community from an early age, volunteering with local organizations like the YMCA. After graduating from La Cañada High School, he pursued his passion for fairness and equality at UCLA School of Law, where he studied constitutional law, and became the first Muslim editor-in-chief of the UCLA Law Review.
“As a proud product of La Cañada Flintridge, I know firsthand that we have a lot to treasure,” said Ahmed. “That’s why I’m committed to preserving our city’s quality of life and putting residents first, while taking action to allow this community to provide for future generations. I hope to usher in a new generation of leadership to give back to this city.”
Since becoming an attorney, Ahmed has devoted his career to service, working in both advocacy and education. He has used his expertise in constitutional law to assist electoral campaigns, protect the right to vote, and uphold freedoms. Ahmed has also worked with local conservation groups to protect our parks, environment, and air quality. He also taught as a substitute teacher at La Cañada Unified School District and currently teaches at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
Ahmed is hosting his first meet-and-greet of the campaign at Panera, on Saturday, Jan. 13, at 10 a.m.
