Spartans Secure Top Tournament Finish

The La Cañada High School varsity girls’ water polo team defeated Long Beach Poly 13-11 to finish third at the Ocean View Tournament on Jan. 20.
Kadyn Day registered five goals and three steals, Lilli Perner finished with three goals and three steals, and Alexis Calix contributed four steals and two goals. Sofia Korshakovsky scored one goal, while Lorelei Rocca had four steals.
The Spartans lost to Beckman High of Irvine 11-3 in a tournament game on Jan. 20.
Day tallied eight steals and one goal, while Rocca and Calix each produced one goal and one steal.
La Cañada picked up a close 7-5 victory over Francis Parker High of San Diego to end the first day of tournament play on Jan. 19 as Day finished with four goals and four steals.
Rocca registered three steals and two goals, while Calix tallied two steals and one goal. Perner recorded two steals, while Annalina Fogarty and Kiley Ku each had one steal.
The Spartans defeated Westlake High of Westlake Village 12-7 in their tournament opener on Jan. 19 as Day racked up seven goals and two steals.
Rocca chipped in two goals and two steals, while Calix contributed three steals and one goal. Perner tallied five steals, while Ku had two steals.
La Cañada routed host San Marino 20-2 in a Rio Hondo League game on Jan. 18 as Emma Hayashi registered four goals and two steals.
Ku finished with three goals and three steals, while Fogarty recorded three goals and two steals. Day tallied six steals, two goals and two blocks, Didi Reifsnyder-Smith registered three blocks, two goals and two steals, and Rocca contributed four steals and two goals. Perner notched two goals, two blocks and one steal, Korshakovsky chipped in two goals and one steal, and Calix had seven steals and one goal.
The Spartans secured a 10-5 league victory at South Pasadena on Jan. 16.
Day and Korshakovsky each scored three goals, Perner recorded two goals, and Fogarty and Rocca each chipped in one goal.
La Cañada (15-4 overall, 7-0 in league) will visit Temple City for a league game on Jan. 25 at 4 p.m. before hosting Monrovia on Jan. 30.

FLINTRIDGE PREP
The Wolves defeated visiting Westridge School 17-9 in a Prep League game on Jan. 18.
Dahlia Kamins registered 10 saves, Katelin Kinne finished with six goals and Naomi Cohen recorded five goals. Leena Kamins tallied three goals, Sarah Bonk chipped in two goals and Sam Bonk scored one goal.
Flintridge Prep (8-3, 4-1) will visit Brentwood School in Los Angeles for a league game on Jan. 25 at 4 p.m.

FLINTRIDGE SACRED HEART
The Tologs lost at Crescenta Valley High in La Crescenta 16-5 in a nonleague game on Jan. 17. Individual statistics were not reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
FSHA (14-6, 0-1) will visit Harvard-Westlake High in Studio City for a Mission League game on Jan. 29 at 3 p.m. before traveling to Marymount High in Los Angeles on Jan. 31.
