Behind Didi Reifsnyder-Smith, La Cañada Girls’ Water Polo Earns Top Finish at Tournament

The La Cañada High School varsity girls’ water polo team competed in the Los Altos Tournament and finished fourth with a 3-1 record.
The Spartans defeated Newbury Park 11-5 in their tournament finale on Jan. 27 as Didi Reifsnyder-Smith recorded nine blocks.
Kadyn Day racked up seven goals and five steals, while Lilli Perner finished with five steals and two goals. Lorelei Rocca tallied two steals and one goal, Annalina Fogarty chipped in one goal and one steal, and Kiley Ku and Alexis Calix each had three steals.
La Cañada picked up a 13-8 victory over Temple City in a tournament game on Jan. 27.
Reifsnyder-Smith registered eight blocks, while Day contributed four goals and four steals. Perner and Rocca each finished with three goals and two steals, while Calix and Ku each recorded two steals and one goal. Supriya Uniyal scored one goal, while Sofia Korshakovsky had two steals.
The Spartans lost to Palos Verdes High of the Palos Verdes Estates 10-8 in a tournament game on Jan. 26.
Reifsnyder-Smith produced five blocks, Day scored five goals, and Perner, Calix and Rocca each had one goal.
La Cañada opened tournament action with a 13-9 victory over Rosary Academy of Fullerton on Jan. 26 as Reifsnyder-Smith finished with seven blocks.
Rocca registered four goals and one steal, Day tallied six steals and three goals, and Ku scored three goals. Perner chipped in two goals and one steal, while Calix recorded two steals and one goal. Korshakovsky produced one goal and one steal, while Fogarty had one steal.
The Spartans overwhelmed host Temple City 10-2 in a Rio Hondo League game on Jan. 25.
Day chipped in four goals, while Perner scored three goals. Ku contributed two goals, while Calix had one goal.
La Cañada shut out visiting Blair High of Pasadena 14-0 in a league game on Jan. 23.
Reifsnyder-Smith and Fogarty each produced three goals, Day recorded two goals, and Emma Hayashi, Perner, Ku, Rocca, Korshakovsky and Uniyal each scored one goal.
The Spartans (19-5 overall, 8-0 in league) will host South Pasadena for their regular-season finale on Feb. 1 at 4 p.m. The CIF Southern Section playoff brackets will be released on Feb. 3 at 9 a.m.

The Wolves lost at Pasadena Polytechnic 13-8 in a Prep League game on Jan. 24. Individual statistics were not reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
Flintridge Prep (9-4, 4-2) hosted Mayfield Senior of Pasadena for its regular-season finale on Jan. 31; the league game ended after the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. The CIF Southern Section playoff brackets will be released on Feb. 3 at 9 a.m.

FLINTRIDGE SACRED HEART
The Tologs cruised to a 22-5 victory over host Louisville High in Woodland Hills in a Mission League game on Jan. 23. Individual statistics were not reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
FSHA (15-6, 1-1) will visit Sherman Oaks Notre Dame for its regular-season finale on Feb. 1 at 4 p.m. The CIF Southern Section playoff brackets will be released on Feb. 3 at 9 a.m.
