City Needs to Be Safer for Walkers

My name is Arya Ghaneh. I am 19 years old, a current student at Glendale Community College and a 16-year resident of La Cañada Flintridge. Today I will be discussing the issues many of my neighbors and I have with the streets of La Cañada Flintridge. My fellow neighbors and I can never walk down our streets without being in fear of getting hit by a car.
For years we have been complaining about this issue but to no avail. I understand that building sidewalks takes time and money, however instead of doing this, there are many other solutions to making the streets of La Cañada Flintridge safer. We need to add speed bumps, more blind spot mirrors, and yellow mount delineators on all the streets, but especially on the windy, uphill and downhill streets.
I urge the LCF city council to discuss this important issue at their next meeting in order for them to find a solution to this matter. This should be of utmost concern to them as many of the drivers in LCF are teenagers who speed, making it hard for families to take a walk with their children and dogs.
