Hosford’s Hat Trick Sends La Cañada Girls’ Soccer to CIF Quarterfinal

The La Cañada High School varsity girls’ soccer team routed visiting University Prep of Victorville 7-1 in the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division IV playoffs on Feb. 12.
Samantha Hosford scored a hat trick, while Tiffani Na-Nakornpanom, Julia Sada, Mathilde Ayoub and Samantha Neumeier each chipped in one goal.
The Spartans shut out host Hillcrest High in Riverside 5-0 in their CIF opener on Feb. 8 as Hailee Takao and Hosford each scored a pair of goals.
La Cañada (14-5 overall) advanced to the quarterfinals and visited Walnut (13-9-4 overall) on Feb. 14; the match ended after the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. If victorious, the Spartans would advance to the semifinals and meet either Thousand Oaks (12-2-4) or Louisville High of Woodland Hills (18-2-1) on Feb. 17.

FLINTRIDGE PREP
The Wolves lost to visiting Westlake High of Westlake Village in double overtime 2-1 in their CIF Southern Section Division I opener on Feb. 8.
Junior Dagny Marion scored one goal, while junior Valentina Mancilla was credited with an assist.
Flintridge Prep finished the campaign as Prep League champions with a 9-0-1 record (16-4-2 overall).
