Spartans Boys’ Tennis Eyes Opener Against Golden Knights

The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ tennis team will host St. Francis High for its season opener on Feb. 23 at 3:30 p.m.
The Spartans will then visit Temple City for their Rio Hondo League opener on March 12 at 4 p.m. before hosting Blair High of Pasadena on March 15.

ST. FRANCIS
The Golden Knights lost to visiting Polytechnic 13-5 in their season opener on Feb. 13.
The No. 2 doubles team of Preston Kim and Arek Yacoubian won a pair of sets with identical 6-3 scores, while the No. 3 duo of Christian Tchakmakjian and Lucas Silva won two sets with scores of 7-6 (7-1) and 7-5. Meanwhile, the No. 1 tandem of Logan King and Owen Mann won a set, 7-5.
St. Francis lost at Pasadena in games, 9-9 (75-67), in a nonleague match on Feb. 14.
The No. 2 doubles team of Arek Yacoubian and Kim swept with scores of 6-4, 6-3 and 6-0, while the No. 3 tandem of King and Mann also swept with scores of 6-2, 6-2 and 7-6. No. 1 singles Nathan Huey won a set, 6-2, while No. 2 Von Yacoubian and No. 3 Armen Balikyan-Bekian each won a set with identical 6-1 scores.
St. Francis, still searching for its first win after two matches, will visit La Cañada for a nonleague match on Feb. 23 at 3:30 p.m. before traveling to Flintridge Prep on Feb. 26.

FLINTRIDGE PREP
The Wolves picked up a 13-5 nonleague victory at Milken Community School in Los Angeles on Feb. 15.
No. 1 Sieben Jeremy swept with scores of 6-2, 6-0 and 6-0, No. 2 Cabrera Ray swept with scores of 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0, and the No. 1 doubles team of Shivaram Finley and Logan Wu swept with scores of 6-0, 6-1 and 6-0. No. 3 Stanton Nico posted a pair of 6-0 victories, while the No. 3 tandem of Hutaff Josh and Mukherjee Noah won a pair of sets with identical 6-4 scores.
Flintridge Prep lost to visiting Arcadia 12-6 in its season opener on Feb. 14 as Jeremy swept with a trio of 6-1 scores as the No. 3 singles. Nico, serving as the No. 2 singles player, won a pair of sets with identical 6-0 scores, while Ray added a 6-2 victory as the No. 1 singles player for the Wolves.
The Wolves (1-1) will visit Buckley School in Sherman Oaks for a nonleague match on Feb. 23 at 3 p.m. before hosting St. Francis High on Feb. 26.
