McClure Sparks La Cañada Girls’ Lacrosse

The La Cañada High School varsity girls’ lacrosse team picked up a 6-4 season-opening victory against visiting El Camino Real High of Woodland Hills on Feb. 13 as sophomore captain Gretchen Louie recorded 12 saves.
Junior captain Maddie McClure led the team with three goals, freshman Julie Chien chipped in two goals and freshman Nicole Otieno scored one goal.
The Spartans (1-0 overall) will visit Saugus for a nonleague game on Feb. 23 at 3 p.m. before hosting Hart High of Newhall on Feb. 27.

BOYS’ LACROSSE
The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ lacrosse team hosted Royal High of Simi Valley on Feb. 20; the nonleague game ended after the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue.
The Spartans (1-0 overall) will host Grace Brethren School of Simi Valley on Feb. 23 at 5 p.m. before hosting Chaminade High of West Hills on Feb. 29.

ST. FRANCIS
The Golden Knights opened the regular season with a pair of nonleague victories.
St. Francis picked up a 13-4 victory at Redondo Union High in Redondo Beach on Feb. 16 after a 19-1 season-opening victory against visiting Crescenta Valley High of La Crescenta on Feb. 13. Individual statistics were not reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
The Golden Knights (2-0 overall) will visit St. Margaret’s High in San Juan Capistrano on Feb. 23 at 6 p.m. before visiting Servite High in Anaheim on Feb. 27.
