Softball: Spartans Edge Temple City in Tournament Showdown 

The La Cañada High School varsity softball team routed host Ramona Convent High of Alhambra 11-1 in their Duarte Tournament finale on Feb. 26.
Junior Bentley Labrecque, who went 2-for-4 at the plate, allowed one hit across three scoreless innings to earn the win. Junior Grace Rocco, who went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, allowed one earned run on one hit over two innings of relief.
Freshman Lesley Milton went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs, while freshman Riley Labrecque went 2-for-3 with a double. Senior Elle Leckrone went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while senior Mia Salardino went 2-for-2 with an RBI. Sophomore Laila Kazazian recorded a hit and an RBI, while senior Ashley Lovejoy and sophomore Ava Perry each tallied a base hit.
The Spartans secured a narrow 5-4 victory over visiting Temple City in a tournament game on Feb. 24. Bentley Labrecque pitched four innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits and no walks with six strikeouts.
Leckrone went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double, two runs, an RBI and a stolen base, Labrecque went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs and an RBI, and Rocco went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Milton registered a double, a run and a stolen base, Lovejoy contributed a hit and an RBI, and Salardino tallied a base hit. Junior Aubrey Wurm walked twice, while Perry walked once.
La Cañada tied visiting Duarte 1-1 in a tournament game on Feb. 24. Leckrone, who had a double at the plate, pitched a five-inning no-hitter with 10 strikeouts. She allowed one earned run on five walks in the no-decision contest.
Lovejoy produced a triple and a run, while Perry recorded a hit and an RBI. Riley Labrecque, Bentley Labrecque, Salardino and Rocco each had a base hit, while Milton walked once.
La Cañada suffered a 4-2 nonleague loss at Burroughs High in Burbank on Feb. 23. Bentley Labrecque pitched a six-inning complete game, allowing four earned runs on seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts.
Leckrone slugged a solo home run, Riley Labrecque went 2-for-3 with a triple and a run, and Rocco went 2-for-3. Perry recorded a hit and a stolen base, Milton tallied a base hit, and Wurm walked once.
The Spartans (3-4-1 overall) will host Heritage Christian High of Northridge for a nonleague game on Feb. 29 at 3:30 p.m. before visiting Monrovia for their Rio Hondo League opener on March 5.

FLINTRIDGE PREP
The Wolves picked up a 12-7 nonleague victory over visiting Ramona Convent High of Alhambra on Feb. 23. Junior Elise Fong, who went 2-for-5 with three RBIs, two runs and a stolen base, pitched a complete game, allowing seven runs (four earned) on 12 hits and no walks with five strikeouts.
Sophomore Mary Sinclair went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBIs, three runs and a walk, senior Asta Uziel went 3-for-4 with a triple, three runs, an RBI, a stolen base and a walk, and freshman Leighton Acker went 3-for-5 with a double. Junior Sienna Liston went 2-for-4 with three runs and two stolen bases, senior Ava Burlingame went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base, and senior Alex Von Thaden went 2-for-4 with a run. Meanwhile, sophomore Emma Carmack tallied a hit and an RBI.
Flintridge Prep (3-0) will host Maranatha High of Pasadena for a nonleague game on Feb. 29 at 3:30 p.m. before hosting La Salle College Preparatory of Pasadena on March 1.

FLINTRIDGE SACRED HEART
The Tologs hosted Roosevelt High of Los Angeles on Feb. 28; the nonleague game needed after the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue.
FSHA (1-1) will visit Pasadena Polytechnic for a nonleague game on March 1 at 3:30 p.m. before competing in the Shapiro Classic on March 2.
