Boys’ Volleyball: Flintridge Prep Battles La Cañada in Crosstown Matchup

The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ volleyball team lost at Flintridge Prep in five games, 17-25, 12-25, 25-22, 25-23, 8-15, in a nonleague match on March 1.
Quest Swan finished with 15 kills, four digs and three blocks, while Zach Evans contributed 12 kills, four digs and three blocks. Jacob Que racked up 21 assists, 13 digs and six blocks, Jared Yang registered 11 digs and 10 assists, and Albert Cho tallied 12 digs and five assists. Riley Vencatachellum recorded six blocks, five kills and three digs, while Mason O’Brien produced four blocks and two kills. Parker Petroc collected six digs and one ace, Tyler Chua had two blocks, two digs and one kill, and Timothy Huang chipped in one kill.
The Spartans lost at Chaminade High in West Hills in five games, 21-25, 19-25, 25-11, 28-26, 13-15, in a nonleague match on Feb. 29 as Swan finished with 14 kills and 11 digs.
Que contributed 18 assists, eight kills, six digs, two aces and one block, Yang registered 17 assists, nine digs, two kills and two aces, and Cho tallied 11 digs, four assists and two aces. Vencatachellum produced six kills, two aces, two blocks, two digs and one assist, while Petroc recorded seven digs, three aces and two kills. Evans was credited with one block, one assist and one dig, while Chua had one kill and one dig.
La Cañada (2-2 overall) will open Rio Hondo League action at San Marino on March 12 at 5 p.m. before traveling to South Pasadena on March 14.

FLINTRIDGE PREP
The Wolves won a five-game matchup against visiting La Cañada, 25-17, 25-12, 22-25, 23-25, 15-8, in a nonleague match on March 1.
Sophomore Kyle Yun racked up 21 kills, 11 digs, nine assists and three aces, sophomore Dylan Choi finished with 17 digs, 13 kills, five assists and one ace, and freshman Nicholas Smith contributed 12 kills, nine digs, two aces and two blocks. Senior Roderick Liu recorded 18 assists and eight digs, while senior Warren Nam produced eight digs, four aces, three blocks and one kill. Senior Preston Chen registered five kills and two digs, while junior Kai Belzer chipped in three kills. Junior Peter Jordan tallied one kill and one dig, while junior Anthony Chang had two digs.
Flintridge Prep swept host Mountain View High in El Monte in a nonleague match on Feb. 29. Individual statistics and scores were not reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
The Wolves (4-0) will host San Marino for a nonleague match on March 8 at 5 p.m. before opening Prep League play against Palos Verdes Chadwick on March 12.

St Francis High School junior Matt Polenzani and the Golden Knights will host Temple City for a nonleague match on March 8 at 6 pm

ST. FRANCIS
The Golden Knights suffered a four-game loss at Eagle Rock High, 21-25, 16-25, 25-22, 22-25, in a nonleague match on March 4. St. Francis was swept at Redondo Union High in Redondo Beach, 20-25, 27-25, 25-17, in a nonlegaue match on Feb. 28. Individual statistics were not reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
St. Francis (5-4) will host Temple City for a nonleague match on March 8 at 6 p.m. before visiting Westlake High in Westlake Village on March 11.
