The second graders in Carey Durfee’s class at La Cañada Elementary School used a STEM activity to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
Working in pairs, students were tasked with making a rainbow bridge out of construction paper, popsicle sticks, tape and rainbow-colored pipe cleaners.
Once they were finished, instead of a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, they had to be able to balance 10 golden coins on top of it. The students were very proud of their bridges, which were ready for leprechauns to come and cross it.
