Baseball: Spartans Unable to Shake Off Monrovia

The La Cañada High School varsity baseball team lost to visiting Monrovia 7-6 in a Rio Hondo League game on March 28. Individual statistics were not reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
The Spartans (5-6-1 overall, 1-4 in league) will host Yeshiva University of Los Angeles for a nonleague game on April 4 at 3:30 p.m. before hosting South Pasadena on April 8.

FLINTRIDGE PREP
The Wolves overwhelmed visiting Rio Hondo Prep of Arcadia with a 14-4 Prep League victory on March 28.
Sophomore Nathan Sanok, who had a hit and an RBI at the plate, pitched four innings with five strikeouts, while junior Greg Sue pitched 1 2/3 innings with two strikeouts. Junior Brian Xu went 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs, freshman Nicholas Aparicio went 3-for-4 with a double, four runs and three RBIs, and sophomore Will Grable went 2-for-3 with three runs. Freshman Spancer Rolfe produced a hit, a run and a walk, while juniors Calvin Chen and Will Koh each tallied a hit and an RBI. Junior Matthew Chino had an RBI, a run and a walk, while junior Rowan Schaeffer scored a run.
Flintridge Prep routed host Rio Hondo Prep 18-5 in a league game on March 26. Schaeffer, who went 2-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs at the plate, pitched five innings with five strikeouts.
Rolfe went 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles and two runs, while Grable went 2-for-5 with a home run, four RBIs and two runs. Xu went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, two runs and two walks, Koh went 2-for-5 with a run, and Chen registered a double, two walks, an RBI and a run. Aparicio contributed a hit, two RBIs and two runs, while Sanok produced a hit, two runs, an RBI and a walk. Junior Ethan Park finished with a hit and an RBI, while junior Casey Augenstein, Hayes and Sue each scored a run.
The Wolves (7-7 overall, 5-2 in league) will host Rio Hondo Prep for a league game on April 5 at 3:30 p.m. before visiting Tahquitz High in Hemet on April 6.

ST. FRANCIS
The Golden Knights have been on a break since completing the Mission League season sweep over Loyola High of Los Angeles on March 22.
St. Francis (10-7, 5-5) will visit Sherman Oaks Notre Dame for a league game on April 9 at 3:30 p.m. before hosting the Knights on April 10.
