The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ volleyball team lost at Temple City in four games, 23-25, 20-25, 25-20, 21-25, in its season finale on April 18.
Junior Quest Swan racked up 17 kills, 11 digs, two blocks and one assist, senior Zachary Evans finished with 11 kills, six digs and one block, and freshman Solmin Choi registered 11 digs, 10 kills and one ace. Senior Jared Yang was credited with 24 assists, 11 digs, four aces and one kill, junior Jacob Que contributed 18 assists, three digs and one block, and senior Parker Petroc collected 10 digs. Freshman Jaden Kang tallied nine digs and one ace, while sophomore Riley Vencatachellum recorded five digs, three kills and two blocks.
The Spartans swept visiting Monrovia, 29-27, 25-23, 25-19, in a Rio Hondo League match on April 16.
Choi finished with 15 kills, nine digs and one block, while Swan tallied 11 kills, 11 digs, two assists and one block. Que produced 14 assists, two digs, two kills, one ace and one bloc, while Yang recorded 12 assists, seven digs and one kill. Petroc registered seven digs, four aces and three assists, Vencatachellum was credited with three kills, three assists, two blocks and two digs, and Evans chipped in three kills and two blocks. Kang contributed two kills, two aces, two digs and one assist, while sophomore Albert Cho had two digs.
LCHS finished the campaign fourth in league with a 2-6 record (15-13 overall).
FLINTRIDGE PREP
The Wolves swept host Rio Hondo Prep in Arcadia, 25-20, 25-23, 25-13, in their regular season finale on April 17. Individual statistics were not reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
Flintridge Prep swept visiting Providence High of Burbank, 25-15, 25-21, 25-17, in a Prep League match on April 16.
Sophomore Kyle Yun registered 10 kills, six digs and one block, while senior Warren Nam racked up 19 assists, six digs and one kill. Senior Roderick Liu finished with 13 digs and four assists, while sophomore Dylan Choi contributed 12 digs, four kills, two aces and one assist. Freshman Milo Shin was credited with nine assists and four digs, freshman Nicholas Smith recorded five kills and three blocks, and sophomore Zachary Tsai chipped in four kills. Junior Kai Belzer produced three kills, one block and one dig, while juniors Christopher Hioe and William Jamison each tallied two kills and one dig. Junior Anthony Chang had two aces and one dig, senior Steven Ng notched two kills, and junior Arno Terzian collected two digs. Senior Preston Chen had one kill, while senior Ryan Ginn had one ace.
The Wolves (15-9 overall) will host Bishop Diego High of Santa Barbara (19-5) for their CIF Southern Section Division V opener on April 25 at 6 p.m. If victorious, Flintridge Prep would advance to the second round and battle either Saugus (18-10-2) or Nordhoff High of Ojai (6-10) on April 27.
ST. FRANCIS
The Golden Knights lost to visiting Harvard-Westlake High of Studio City in four games, 25-27, 29-31, 25-23, 16-25, in a Mission League match on April 16. Individual statistics were not reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
St. Francis (19-9 overall) will visit Long Beach Wilson (26-4) for its CIF Southern Section Division II opener on April 25 at 6 p.m. If victorious, the Golden Knights would advance to the quarterfinals and battle either Royal High of Simi Valley (23-5) or Santa Margarita High of Rancho Santa Margarita (20-4) on May 1.
