Veterans, active-duty military personnel and their guests can enjoy Descanso Gardens for free on Memorial Day thanks to the Pipia/Ma Welcome Home Fund.
“We are deeply grateful for the service and dedication of our Veterans and active-duty military members,” said John Pipia, co-founder of the Pipia/Ma Welcome Home Fund. “This Memorial Day, we invite them to relax, unwind and enjoy the beauty of Descanso Gardens as a small token of our appreciation for their sacrifices.”
The Pipia/Ma Welcome Home Fund, a Pasadena Community Fund, is a heartfelt initiative by John Pipia and Betty Ma, longtime La Cañada Flintridge residents. It’s a way for them to thank veterans and active-duty military service members. Through this partnership with Descanso Gardens and the broader community, they aim to create a memorable and enjoyable experience for those who have served and continue to serve the country.
“We hope this gesture brings joy and relaxation to our Veterans and their families,” said Ma. “Collaborating with Descanso Gardens and other community leaders allows us to extend our gratitude and support to those who have served our country with honor and courage.”
From 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on May 27, veterans and active-duty military service members will have complimentary admission for themselves and up to six guests. Tickets will be available at the Visitor Center; no advance registration is required. Attendees should bring proof of military service or veteran affiliation.
