Paradise Canyon Elementary’s 6th-graders recently presented “Willy Wonka Jr.,” which is an annual rite of passage for all 6th-graders in La Cañada Unified schools. Director Katelyn Fike believes that theater teaches not only blocking and line memorization, but valuable life skills, including teamwork, responsibility and creativity. Sixth-grade teachers Katie Budde, Edita Khanlarian, Christine Matthews and Paule Ghermezian were a great help as well as 6th-grade parents. Musical director Jimmie Myers and accompanist Coleen Thatcher put on the production.
