La Cañada Registers 4th Straight Sweep

The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ volleyball team tallied its fourth consecutive sweep by defeating Gabrielino High in San Gabriel, 3-0, in a Rio Hondo League match on Tuesday. No individual statistics were reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
The Spartans (18-4 overall record, 7-0 in league), ranked No. 8 in this week’s CIF-SS Division III poll, are scheduled to host Monrovia in a league contest on Thursday, April 14, at 3:30 p.m.

FLINTRIDGE PREP
The Wolves swept visiting providence High of Burbank, 25-17, 25-19, 25-9, last Thursday. Flintridge Prep previously defeated Rio Hondo Prep in Arcadia, 25-14, 25-20, 25-22, in a league matchup on Tuesday, April 5. No individual statistics were reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
Flintridge Prep (14-2 overall, 5-0 in league) will compete in the Crescenta Valley High tournament, which begins on Friday, April 15.

ST. FRANCIS
The Golden Knights edged Windward High of Los Angeles, 19-25, 25-15, 25-27, 25-21, 15-6, in a nonleague match last Friday.
Senior Robert Nardoni posted a season-high 26 kills with 13 digs and one ace. Meanwhile, junior Gabe Metcalf set a new career-high with 49 assists, in addition to nine digs and two aces on his final line. Sophomore Titus Rodz collected 14 kills, 20 digs and one ace, while junior Blake Welsh and senior Vince Ciampa finished with eight and seven kills, respectively. Senior Mason Hasbrouck tallied two kills and four blocks, freshman Ryan Bender recorded one kill, junior Trevor Shackleton registered 12 digs, junior Aj Lopez produced three aces and five digs, and junior Drew Miller had one ace.
St. Francis picked up a four-set nonleague victory at South Pasadena, 25-22, 25-23, 22-25, 25-19, last Thursday. Nardoni collected 20 kills, 16 digs and two aces, while Metcalf finished with 43 assists and seven digs. Welsh tallied 10 kills, Rodz posted nine kills, five digs and three aces, and Hasbrouck notched five kills and three blocks. Ciampa and Bender each had two kills, Lopez registered four aces and 16 digs, Miller recorded one ace and five digs, Shackleton produced seven digs and sophomore Will Martinez had one dig.
Third-place St. Francis (17-6-1 overall, 3-2 in league) will visit Harvard-Westlake High of Studio City in a nonleague matchup on Tuesday, April 19, at 5 p.m.
