Leckrone Tosses Consecutive Complete Games

The La Cañada High School varsity softball team edged host Oak Hills, 3-2, in a CIF-SS Division IV second-round matchup on Tuesday.
Sophomore Elle Leckrone tossed her second complete game in as many contests, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and four walks with seven strikeouts. She also blasted a solo home run in the first inning, scored an additional run and was intentionally walked in her last three plate appearances.
With the score tied 2-2, senior captain Amy Lyman delivered a clutch RBI base hit to put LCHS up in the top of the seventh.
Junior Kyra Davis tallied two doubles and a stolen base, and freshman Bentley Lebrecque doubled with an RBI. Sophomore Mia Salardino had a base hit, while senior Kylie Sever scored once.
The Spartans (21-6 overall record) will host No. 1-seeded Moorpark (21-4 overall) in a quarterfinal game on Thursday, May 12, at 3:15 p.m. If victorious, La Cañada would advance to a semifinals and meet either Newport Harbor High of Newport Beach (18-5 overall) or Heritage Christian High of Northridge (20-8 overall) on Saturday, May 14.

LCHS claimed a first-round victory over visiting Alhambra last Thursday.
Leckrone twirled a complete-game one-hitter with six strikeouts and two walks. She also blasted a solo home run, scored three runs and added an RBI when she was intentionally walked with the bases loaded.
Lyman went 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBIs and a run scored, while freshman Abigail Milton finished 2-for-2 with a double, two runs scored, a stolen base and an RBI.
Salardino posted two base hits, an RBI and a run scored, senior captain Nicole Wong registered a base hit, two runs scored and an RBI, and Sever produced a base hit, a stolen base and a pair of RBIs. Sophomore Ashley Lovejoy delivered a base hit and an RBI, junior Riley Breckheimer and Lebrecque each notched a base hit, and Davis scored once and reached on a walk.
