Edward H. White, resident of La Cañada Flintridge since 1970, passed away on January 19, 2022, after a brief but tough battle with dementia. He was 79 years old.
As a child Ed moved around constantly until he joined the U.S. Army in 1959, and eventually made his way to Southern California where he met his wife of 54 years, Maxine. Together they formed an amazing team, and raised two children, Steve and Leslie, who both graduated from La Cañada High School.
Balancing fatherhood and a successful clothing manufacturing business, Ed still found time to be heavily involved at Verdugo Hills Hospital, where he served as chairman of the board.
Oakmont Country Club also played a very big part in Ed’s life. A member for 45 years, he was beloved by all, especially the Junior Golfers. His humor, generosity and acceptance were legend. He also served two stints on the board of directors, in addition to being president in 1999.
But he saved his best for last, becoming “Papa” to his six grandchildren: Madison, Robert, Ryan, Cameron, Jocelyn and Griffin. After selling his business in 2004, he had a deep impact on all their lives that will never be forgotten. .
A service will be held at 11:30 a.m. February 12 at St. Bede the Venerable Catholic Church, 215 Foothill Blvd., La Cañada Flintridge, followed by a Celebration of Life at Oakmont Country Club
