The La Cañada High School varsity wrestling team opened Rio Hondo League play with a dominant 61-18 victory over visiting rival South Pasadena last week.
The league result follows a solid showing at the Blackwatch Tournament hosted by Upland High. Cheyenne Garcia won in her weight class, and her sister Sophie was second. Ben Donoho finished sixth in 160-pound bracket, and Andrew Aghadjanians was eighth in the 145-pound division.
The Spartans also competed in the Arroyo Classic in El Monte last weekend. Donoho had the best finish for La Cañada, taking the bronze in the 160-pound division. Colman Trulik was fifth in the 171-pound division.
La Cañada will continue league play today on the road against Monrovia today at 3:30 p.m.
