La Cañada senior Justin Kouyoumdjian, who shared the Rio Hondo League MVP award with teammate Sean Estes, will compete in the Tribune/Star-News All-Star Classic at La Verne Damien this Friday.
Numerous athletes from local high school boys’ and girls’ basketball programs will participate in the 14th installment of the San Gabriel Valley Tribune/Pasadena Star-News All-Star Classic at La Verne Damien this Friday, April 21, at 5:30 p.m.
The event features the best senior basketball players in the Pasadena and San Gabriel Valley area. The girls will start playing at 5:30 p.m., followed by the boys’ game at 7:30 p.m.
La Cañada High School will have its top two boys’ basketball players on the Star-News squad. Sean Estes, an All-CIF athlete, and Justin Kouyoumdjian committed to participate in the event. The Spartans were recently named the Rio Hondo League’s Most Valuable Players.
Flintridge Prep has three athletes participating in the event. Jake Althouse will play with the Star-News boys, and Renae Tamura and Taylor Yoshida will be on the girls’ roster.
Joey Walsh of St. Francis will also play for the Star-News boys’ squad, and Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy standout Camilla Homans committed to play this Friday.
