The La Cañada Flintridge Educational Foundation will hold its 27th annual Spring Gala on Saturday evening, March 3, at the Ritz Carlton at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles (adjacent to Staples Center). More than 700 people are expected to attend the fundraiser, which is widely regarded as LCF’s highest-profile social event of the entire year.
Gala participants will mix, mingle, shop, dine and dance with community supporters to raise money for LCF’s public schools.
“As always, we’ll have a fantastic silent auction with hundreds of items, an exciting live auction and a raffle drawing for a cash prize of $20,000,” said LCFEF Executive Director Marilyn Yang. “It’s our largest fundraiser and we have an exciting new venue, the Ritz Carlton downtown, where there is more space for everyone. We are expecting to sell out again this year, it’s the greatest social event of the year and it’s about supporting our schools with our friends and family, so don’t wait to get your tickets.”
Brad and Vicki Schwartz will also be honored with the prestigious Spirit of Outstanding Service Award for their support of LCF’s public schools and community.
“Brad and Vicki are long-time supporters of our schools, not only with their volunteering of time, but through generous donations and their willingness to engage others in the support of our public school system,” Yang said. “They have lived in La Cañada for close to 30 years and have raised two children, Matthew and Jenna, who attended LCUSD schools K-12.They are both as active in our community today as they were 30 years ago.”
Another of the evening’s highlights will be one of the best live auctions in the gala’s 27-year history, with several enticing items:
• A trip to New Orleans, with a walk-on role on the hit television show “NCIS New Orleans.” Air and hotel accommodations are included.
• For the sports fan, there is a trip for two to the NCAA men’s basketball Final Four, including tickets to the championship game and the two semifinal games. The March Madness package includes five-day deluxe hotel accommodations for two people.
• A VIP trip to Las Vegas for two, which includes a private flight on a personal plane to and from Vegas, first-class luxury pick up from the airport to Bellagio Hotel, a VIP package at Bellagio, including a “penthouse suite” with possible upgrade and VIP room key (which allows guests to skip to the head of certain lines), dinner at one of the Bellagio’s fine dining restaurants (a $500 credit will be put on the room), two tickets to the Cirque Du Soleil show “O” at the Bellagio and a couple’s massage at Bellagio spa the next morning.
Caroline Anderson and Holly Biondo are serving as co-chairs of this year’s gala, whose theme is “La La La Cañada” (a spoof on last year’s award-winning film, “La La Land”).
