La Cañada, Flintridge Prep Host Playoff Games Tonight

The La Cañada High School varsity girls’ basketball team secured its perfect record in Rio Hondo League play last Tuesday and will enter the CIF Southern Section Division 2AA playoffs as the No. 7 seed.
The Spartans (23-4 overall record, 8-0 in league) will host Leuzinger of Lawndale in a first-round playoff game tonight at 7.

The Olympians (19-9 overall) finished fourth in the Bay League with a 4-6 record and share four opponents with LCHS. Both programs squared off with Gabrielino, Placentia El Dorado, Los Angeles Roosevelt and Mira Costa of Manhattan Beach.
La Cañada and Leuzinger both suffered defeats to El Dorado but the Spartans won their other three contests. The Olympians fell to Mira Costa twice.
Should the Spartans come away with a victory, they would move on to face either Pasadena or Yucaipa on Saturday, Feb. 9, at 7 p.m.

The Flintridge Prep varsity girls’ basketball team concluded the Prep League portion of the season with a perfect 10-0 record and will compete in the CIF Southern Section Division 2A playoffs as the No. 5 seed.
The Rebels (21-2 overall record) will host Thousand Oaks in a first-round game tonight at 7.
The Lancers share four common opponents with Prep in Burbank Providence, La Cañada, Arleta and Simi Valley Grace Brethren. Thousand Oaks (13-13 overall) defeated Providence and Arleta but fell to the Spartans and Grace Brethren. Flintridge Prep defeated all four opponents.

The Flintridge Sacred Heart varsity girls’ basketball team picked up its fourth Sunshine League win of the season by defeating host Woodland Hills Louisville, 49-38, last week.
Jenna De Vera led the Tologs (18-8 overall) with 18 points and helped the squad place third in the league standings with a 4-4 record.
FSHA will travel to City of Industry to take on Workman in a CIF-SS Division 4AA first-round playoff game today at 7 p.m.
