Erskine, Chamber Hosting Book Launch Fundraiser

Chris Erskine

The La Cañada Flintridge Chamber of Commerce will host a virtual book launch of LCF resident Chris Erskine’s new work, “Lavender in Your Lemonade.” The event, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1, is titled “Books, Booze, and Banter.”
“Chris Erskine has invited us to his living room — via Zoom — to celebrate the publication of his fourth book fresh out of the factory,” a Chamber spokesperson said. “It’s called a collection of his daily posts during the height of the COVID pandemic. Three takeaways: Where there is humor, there is hope. Where there is gin, there is tonic. And better times are always just ahead.”
Erskine has been chronicling life in Los Angeles for more than 25 years. As a columnist for the Los Angeles Times, he wrote for the sports, travel, entertainment and lifestyle sections. Perhaps best known for his characterizations of suburban family life, he is the author of three other books of essays: “Surviving Suburbia,” “Man of the House” and “Daditude.” The Chicago native has also worked for papers in Miami and New Orleans. He has been an LCF resident for 27 years. Follow his work at ChrisErskineLA.com.
Tickets for Books, Booze, and Banter can be purchased on the LCF Chamber website lacanadaflintridge.com. General tickets are $40 and include a copy of “Lavender in Your Lemonade.” VIP tickets are $55 and include an autographed (and personalized) copy of the book. “Zoom-in only” tickets are $30.
This virtual event for LCF Chamber is the second in a series of events planned for the remainder of 2020.
