TJ Maxx Theft Policy Fosters More Crime

First published in the Aug. 11 print issue of the Outlook Valley Sun.

As a long-time resident of La Cañada Flintridge and a shopper at TJ Maxx, I wanted to respond to Mr. Antonini’s letter. I have shopped at TJ Maxx over the years and been thankful it was so close. However, I agree with Mr. Antonini. By their company not pressing charges, arresting the thieves, it encourages more theft and more criminals to specifically come to LCF. A police officer friend told me a couple of years ago that criminals have a network. They share information on where the best places are to burglarize. TJ Maxx’s hands-off policy multiplies the problem. It also causes all of us ultimately to pay more for goods. Plus, it creates a less safe environment for all of us to shop in.
I would highly encourage their company to rethink their crime policy and make everyone safer.
