Autumn Arrives at Lutheran Church in the Foothills

First published in the Sept. 22 print issue of the Outlook Valley Sun.

With the arrival of autumn, Lutheran Church in the Foothills is preparing for the season ahead. Pastor Chuck Bunnell is organizing a Confirmation class for students in grades 6-12.
Confirmation, also known as Affirmation of Baptism, is the time when young people declare for themselves that they will live out the promises made for them by their parents and sponsors in their baptism. For those who have not been baptized, this sacrament is offered first. Families who are interested in the upcoming Confirmation class should contact the church office.
LCIF would like to remind the community of an upcoming night of family fun, on the lawn and under the stars. All are invited to watch “Minions: The Rise of Gru,” Friday, Sept. 30, at 7 p.m. Families are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs for the free screening on the front lawn of the church. Snow cones, popcorn and other refreshments will be served.
This Sunday, Pastor Bunnell will lead worship in person and online beginning at 10 a.m. During the weekly worship service, elementary schoolchildren are invited to join a fun-filled hour of learning at Sunday school. Children join their parents in the sanctuary for the beginning of the worship service. After a children’s message with the pastor, they move to a special class just for kids. The children’s program includes songs, videos, crafts and games.
Visit lcifoothills.org for event details, including small group gatherings and opportunities to serve. For more information or to request/offer help, email office@lcifoothills.org, or call (818) 790-1951. The church is located at 1700 Foothill Blvd. in La Cañada Flintridge. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.
