Fresh off a successful dual meet season, the La Cañada High School wrestling team faced more familiar foes in the Rio Hondo League last Wednesday.
The Spartan boys qualified in all 14 weight classes for CIF-Southern Section competition while the LCHS girls qualified 12. In total, Spartan wrestlers advanced to the finals in 25 of the 28 combined weight classes for boys and girls.
Individual league champions were Sasha Kliegl (106 pounds), Angel Lee (111), Jianna Lee (116), Adam Daghlian (120), Allison Ingrassia (121), Kera Finnigan (131), Jonah Kim (132), Joanne Kim (137), Phoebe Cucullu (143), Kira de Brito (150), Miles Johnstone (160), Iris Rivas (170), Dylan Baetsle (182), Vera Grivvinikova (189), Bryan Green (220) and heavyweights Anna Kleineahlbrandt and Geoffrey Butler.
Individual playoffs continue Feb. 10-11 for the boys and girls at Westminster High School in La Quinta and Canyon Springs High in Moreno Valley, respectively.
