Spartans Crush Temple City in League Opener

The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ tennis team routed host Temple City, 15-3, in its Rio Hondo League opener last Friday.
LCHS No. 1 singles player Lance Morgan (6-4, 6-0, 6-4), the No. 1 doubles team of Dylan Lu and Aaron Magtoto (6-1, 6-1, 6-1), and the No. 2 tandem of Spencer Moravec and David Lee (6-2, 6-3, 6-1) each swept. The No. 3 duo of Blake and Cayden Chang won a pair of sets, 6-4, 6-3, before alternating with Enzo and Eric Lee, who won their lone set, 6-2. No. 2 Konan Sahara won a pair of sets, 6-1, 6-2, while No. 3 singles Justin Son won a set, 6-0.
The Spartans previously blanked host Palm Springs, 11-0, before the nonleague match was called due to rain. No. 1 singles Magtoto (6-0, 6-0), No. 2 Rahul Gupta (6-1, 6-1) and No. 3 Son (6-0, 6-1) each won a pair of sets. The No. 1 team of Lu and Enzo Lee (6-1, 6-1) and the No. 2 tandem of Moravec and Eric Lee (6-0, 6-0) each won a pair of sets while the No. 3 duo of Mathew Ma and Zach Mayne won a set, 6-3.
LCHS will visit Monrovia for a league matchup on Friday, March 24, at 4 p.m. before visiting San Marino on March 28.
