City Hosts Breakfast Meeting With Supervisor

The city of La Cañada Flintridge recently hosted its first Special City Council Breakfast Meeting of 2023. Special City Council Breakfasts are joint meetings with Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger to provide an update on various city projects.
“Collaboration between city councils and county officials is essential for effective governance, as it allows for the sharing of resources, expertise and ideas to tackle the complex issues facing our community,” said La Cañada Flintridge Mayor Keith Eich. “Working with Supervisor Kathryn Barger on an annual basis creates synergy between organizations that will pay dividends for the community’s benefit.”
Alongside the mayor, attendees representing City Council included Mayor Pro Tem Richard Gunter III and Councilmembers Michael Davitt and Terry Walker. Joined by other city staff, supervisor’s staff and liaisons from the L.A. County Sheriff’s and Fire Departments, the City Council discussed the following priority items:
• Devil’s Gate Reservoir sediment removal project update
• County Fire brush clearance inspections update
• Local solutions on homelessness
• La Cañada Flintridge Library update by Library Manager Mark Totten
• Link/soundwall project’s ribbon cuttings
With a recommendation from Barger, staff touched on their plan of homelessness outreach in areas with encampments and coordination with county services to meet local needs.
“The city of La Cañada Flintridge is working diligently for their community daily,” said Barger in a statement. “Listening to the ongoing and complete projects of the city allows me to better serve the region and the city from the county level.”
