Spartans Lose to Village Christian, 14-3

The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ lacrosse team lost at Village Christian in Sun Valley, 14-3, in a Gold Coast League game on Friday.
Junior Thomas Sorensen scored one goal with one assist and two ground balls, senior Jake Jewell recorded one goal and two ground balls, and sophomore Tyler Ricks tallied one goal and one ground ball.
Senior Andrew Moon won 16-of-20 face-offs and added a pair of ground balls while senior Kyle McKinney racked up 21 saves. Sophomore Conor Roehmholdt finished with one shot on goal and five ground balls while sophomore Milo Reifsnyder-Smith registered one shot on target and two ground balls. Junior Keshav Fernando produced three ground balls, senior Jacob Butier, junior Mason O’Brien, sophomore Spencer Turner and freshman Parker Weightman each had two ground balls, and junior Dylan Jeffries, sophomore Finn Valderhaug and freshman Everett Hernandez each had one ground ball.
The Spartans were previously edged by visiting Simi Valley, 6-5, in a nonleague game. Sorensen scored three goals, Jewell recorded one goal and four ground balls, and Fernando tallied one goal and three ground balls. Moon won 9-of-10 face-offs and added a ground ball, sophomore Garrett Walling went 1-for-2 in face-off attempts and McKinney made 14 saves. Junior Mac Reese finished with one shot on goal and two ground balls, Jeffries had two shots on goal, and O’Brien registered a shot on goal and one ground ball. Sophomore River Wokosin, sophomore Tristan Connolly and Hernandez each had two ground balls while junior Cayden Klein, Roehmholdt and Butier each had one ground ball.
LCHS (3-11 overall, 1-7 in league) will host Glendale in a league game on Tuesday, April 11, at 4:30 p.m. before visiting Brentwood School in Los Angeles on April 13.

ST. FRANCIS

The Golden Knights edged host Saint Francis High of Mountain View, 14-13, in a nonleague game last Friday. SFHS recently lost a Mission League game against visiting Loyola High of Los Angeles, 17-5.
St. Francis (7-7 overall, 3-3 in league) will visit San Juan Hills High in San Juan Capistrano for a nonleague game on Saturday, April 15, at 10 a.m. before competing in the league tournament starting on April 18.
