The La Cañada Engineering Club attended the three-day Las Vegas Regional FIRST robotics competition from March 30 through April 1 and secured the Impact Award.
The LCEC “Blockheads” are composed of STEM students who presented their robot, “Eugene Grabs,” for the competition, which made it all the way to the semifinals. The robotics team earned widespread recognition for the impressive performance.
Among the 44 talented teams, the robotics team solidified the Impact Award, which is a prestigious honor reserved for teams that demonstrate exceptional community service and STEM engagement with local schools and communities.
Over the past year, the LCEC has volunteered 8,600 hours dedicated to hosting robotics competitions, promoting STEM awareness, and offering educational opportunities. With the Impact Award in-hand, the La Cañada Engineering Club is now qualified to compete at the world championships in Houston, Texas, from April 19-22, where they will have the chance to face off against the world’s best FIRST teams.
