Spartans Edge Flintridge Prep, San Marino

The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ volleyball team won a thrilling five-set contest at Flintridge Prep, 25-19, 23-25, 19-25, 25-16, 15-7, in a nonleague matchup last Thursday.
The Spartans previously edged visiting San Marino in a Rio Hondo League match, 25-18, 31-29, 22-25, 17-25, 15-11. Individual statistics were not reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.,
LCHS (11-12 overall, 3-1 in league) will resume league action at South Pasadena on Tuesday, April 11, at 5 p.m. before visiting Monrovia on April 13.

St Francis High School senior Travis Brown produced four aces two kills and one block to help the Golden Knights sweep Pasadena in a nonleague match last week

ST. FRANCIS

The Golden Knights swept visiting Pasadena, 25-10, 25-12, 25-12, in a nonleague match last Thursday.
Senior captain James Clapp registered five kills, four digs, one ace and one block while junior Titus Rodz tallied five kills, three blocks and one dig. Senior Aidan Joel Lopez had 10 assists, two digs, two aces and one kill while senior captain Gabe Metcalf finished with six assists, one kill, one block and one dig. Sophomore Ryan Bender recorded two kills, one block, one dig and one assist, senior Nick Ferry had two kills, three digs, one ace and one block, and senior Travis Brown produced four aces, two kills, one block and one dig. Senior Trevor Shackleton tallied four digs, two kills, two aces and two assists, junior Will Martinez had seven blocks, one kill and one dig, and senior Adrian Castro posted two aces, one kill and one dig. Sophomore Matt Polenzani had two digs and one ace while senior Drew Miller had one ace, one dig and one assist.
SFHS reentered the win column after sweeping visiting Eagle Rock, 25-15, 25-21, 25-21, in a nonleague match last Wednesday. Metcalf racked up 30 assists, eight digs, two blocks and one kill, Rodz recorded 15 kills, seven digs, five aces, three assists and two blocks, and Brown tallied 11 kills, four digs and one block. Clapp finished with five kills, three blocks, one ace and one assist while Martinez registered four blocks, three kills and one assist. Bender had three kills, two blocks and two digs, Lopez made five digs with one kill, and Shackleton produced nine digs and four assists.
The Golden Knights lost their first Mission League match of the campaign after being swept at Loyola High in Los Angeles, 25-15, 25-14, 25-15, last Tuesday. Metcalf had 21 assists and three digs while Brown tallied eight kills, one dig and one assist. Bender had five kills, two blocks and one dig, Clapp finished with four kills, and Rodz produced five digs, three kills and two blocks. Martinez recorded two kills, one block and one dig, senior Blake Welsh registered one kill and one block, and Shackleton had five digs.
SFHS (23-6 overall, 4-1 in league) will visit Oak Park for a nonleague match on Tuesday, April 11, at 6 p.m. before resuming league action at Harvard-Westlake in Studio City on April 18.

FLINTRIDGE PREP

The Wolves won a five-set thriller at St. Genevieve High in Panorama City in a nonleague matchup last Friday. Flintridge Prep previously returned to action after a 15-day hiatus and narrowly lost a nonleague match against visiting La Cañada, 25-19, 23-25, 19-25, 25-16, 15-7. Individual statistics were not reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
The Wolves (8-6 overall, 3-1 in league) will visit host Pasadena Poly for a league matchup on Thursday, April 13, at 4:30 p.m. before hosting Providence High of Burbank on April 19.
