I applaud the City Council and staff for reaching out to the LCF Community through the Age-Friendly Project Survey. It seems that a postcard providing the survey location on the city website was delivered to every household to encourage participation. The survey lists multiple means of communication, including this newspaper.
It is extremely important that the five people whose decisions affect us all understand how to best communicate their process and decisions, and get feedback. The survey is a thoughtful first step to better two-way communication. The Mayor has done his part by advertising the survey in his “Mayor’s Corner.” I’d like to think that every LCF citizen will feel compelled — and honored — to participate.
There is another city survey that is equally important, yet unfortunately has not received quite the same kind of city sponsored support. I would like to turn your attention to the current updating of the Climate Action Plan and the accompanying survey on the city website. It can be found at cityoflcf.org/climateaction. La Cañadans can weigh in on climate change issues in our local community.
In addition to the survey, the city has scheduled two public meetings for us to air concerns and priorities. Citizens can attend either or both of the stakeholder workshops, which will present the same content. The first will be held on Thursday, May 18 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the City Hall Council Chambers. The second will be on Saturday, May 20 from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. at the La Cañada Flintridge Library, 4545 N Oakwood Ave. Please mark your calendars!
If you live or work in La Cañada Flintridge, you will be affected by the policies and best practices that the City Council will consider implementing after the Climate Action Plan updating process. Let’s all join in on this important conversation!
