The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ and girls’ track and field teams sent individuals to compete in the CIF-Southern Section Division III prelims at Yorba Linda.
Katelyn Matarese won her girls’ 1,600 meters heat with a 5:00.42 time. Maya DeBrouwer won the girls’ 3,200 with a 10:35.70 time while Charlotte Hopkins (11:34.09) was 11th. Steven Miketta tied for second in the boys’ pole vault with a 12-06.00 mark.
Matarese finished fourth in the girls’ 800 with a 2:20.92 time while Yasmin Ghaneh (2:23.92) was 14th. Katie McGuinness (59.34) and Sarina Parks (59.84) placed fifth and ninth, respectively, in the girls’ 400. Brittany Rivas (47.34) and Kaitlyn Creighton (48.79) placed eighth and 13th, respectively, in the girls’ 300 hurdles. McGuinness (15.74) and Creighton (16.44) took ninth and 11th, respectively, in the girls’ 100 hurdles.
Erin Makhanian and Lill Ludvigsen each tied for eighth with a 9-06.00 mark in the girls’ pole vault, Alan Razo (42.42) finished 11th in the boys’ 300 hurdles and Corey Cheung tied for 13th in the boys’ 100 with an 11.15 time. Samuel Parks (51.27) and Jamie Saunders (51.52) placed 14th and 16th, respectively, in the boys’ 400, Ludvigsen (30-10.50) was 22nd in the girls’ shot put and Max Smith (10:36.55) was 27th in the boys’ 3,200.
FLINTRIDGE PREP
The Flintridge Prep varsity boys’ and girls’ track and field teams sent individuals to compete in the CIF-Southern Section Division IV prelims at Carpinteria.
Katharina Zirn took sixth in the girls’ shot put with a 32-05.75 mark, William Bigby finished seventh in the boys’ 400 with a 51.83 time and Kevin Martinez (43.18) was 10th in the boys’ 300 hurdles. The boys’ relay team of Bigby, Ryan Ginn, Declan Mansbridge and Martinez placed 12th in the 4×400 with a 3:37.89 time. Scarlett Coombes finished 15th in the girls’ 100 with a 12.74 time while also taking 15th in the 200 with a 26.50 time. Martinez (18-11.00) finished 21st in the boys’ pole vault, Jenna Moutes (2:34.21) took 24th in the girls’ 800 and Sophia Smith (1:06.99) was 40th in the girls’ 400.
ST. FRANCIS
The St. Francis varsity boys’ track and field team sent individuals to compete in the CIF-Southern Section Division III prelims at Yorba Linda as Clint Geryak tied for first in the pole vault with a 13-00.00 mark.
Luke Metcalf (4:19.25) and Sam Franco (4:20.50) finished third and seventh, respectively, in the 1,600. Metcalf (1:57.34) placed third in the 800, Preston Jernigan (49-05.00) was sixth in the shot put, and Franco (fifth, 9:30.18) and Hayden Owen (10th, 9:39.26) each finished inside the top 10 in the 3,200.
