LCFEF Endowment Fund Names Rose Harrington Educators of the Year

Paul Kim and Sarah Beattie were named the 2022-23 Rose Harrington Educators of the Year. This honor was established in 2002 by a bequest to the La Cañada Flintridge Educational Foundation Endowment Fund from the estate of local resident and teacher Rose Harrington.
This year’s recipients were Paul Kim, a mathematics teacher at La Cañada High School 7/8, and Sarah Beattie, a social science teacher and ASB advisor at LCHS.

Harrington’s wishes were that an outstanding LCUSD educator be selected each year by a committee appointed by the LCFEF Endowment Fund’s trustees to receive a $5,000 cash award. Additionally, the educator’s contributions in the classroom should often exceed expectations, consuming personal time and energy.
Since the initial award was made in 2002, the corpus of Harrington’s gift has grown to the point where two awards have been able to be given in the past two years and the award amount has been adjusted for inflation to $7,500 per recipient.
Nominations are open to the public and take place each year. For more information and to view past recipients, visit lcfef.org/Rose-Harrington-Award.
