Memorial Day Is Important to Celebrate

Remembering the service and sacrifice of our armed forces and military and all local service personnel is the primary purpose of Memorial Day.
Celebrating that remembrance is what we, as a populous, do. It is no small feat to serve. And celebrating this day should likewise be no small feat.
While it seems difficult on its face to say “Happy Memorial Day,” we must remember to honor those who serve, particularly the ones we loved and knew personally.
In honor of Memorial Day, our LCF community takes that celebration to a very high bar each year and we should step back and acknowledge that achievement. The logistics, coordination and dedication are — however small in comparison — a nod to the personnel we are honoring.
Threatening weather notwithstanding, it did not actually rain “on” our parade and the community turned out in unity to honor the spirit of Memorial Day.
On behalf of the La Cañada Flintridge Tournament of Roses Association, I wish to thank our Chamber of Commerce and community for letting us be a part of our community’s Fiesta Days celebration. A monumental task well done! It is and was an honor to participate.
And a heartfelt double thank you for those that also serve and have served this nation. It’s an honor to know and serve with you.
