Sheriff’s Crime Log

A deputy from the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of grand theft of two catalytic converters in the 2200 block of Cross Street between 12:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. on May 30. The victims parked their cars, a 2012 and 2013 Toyota Prius, on the east side of their residence, and at about 5:30 a.m., they noticed that both vehicles were making a loud noise from the undercarriage when the vehicle started. After the deputy assessed the vehicles, they determined that catalytic converters were missing.

A petty theft was reported in the 4600 block of Lasheart Drive between 9:15 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. on May 30. The deputy was flagged down by a citizen who told him that her gardener’s hedge trimmer was stolen from his truck parked outside.

A vandalism occurred at a church in the 200 block of Foothill Boulevard at 1:41 a.m. on June 2. A campus security officer told the deputy that an unknown homeless man on a bicycle, with bags hanging from his handlebars, spray painted graffiti on their exterior wall. The graffiti was already removed when the deputy showed up, since the facility was hosting an event, but was provided a photograph of the graffiti.

A grand theft of a catalytic converter was reported in the 1100 block of Olive Lane at 10:17 p.m. on May 28. The victim parked his mother’s 2008 red Toyota Prius on the street, north of the residence. When he heard a loud noise from outside the house, the victim looked in the direction of where the vehicle was parked to discover a male suspect getting out from underneath the vehicle to run toward an awaiting vehicle, which then fled southbound toward the Angeles Crest Highway. The victim looked underneath the vehicle and discovered his catalytic converter to be stolen. He also found a floor jack that was left by the suspects.
