Lutheran Church Lauds ‘Dads and Grads’ on June 18

Lutheran Church in the Foothills will celebrate an annual tradition this Father’s Day on Sunday, June 18, with its “Dads and Grads” event.
Fathers will be honored during the 10 a.m. service, as well as recent graduates of local high schools. LCIF member and recent La Cañada High School graduate Joanna Gropper will receive a hand-stitched quilt to take with her to college. The receiving of a quilt for graduating church members is a longstanding tradition at LCIF. Gropper will attend American University this fall.
This Sunday, LCIF’s new full-time pastor will deliver his first sermon. The Rev. Rick Hall grew up in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He graduated from Adams State College in 1995 with a degree in history, government and philosophy, and secondary education. Hall earned his Master of Divinity from Luther Seminary in 2011. He has served at churches in Wisconsin, North Dakota, and most recently, in Fresno, California. Hall is married to his wife, Cathy Hall, of 24 years. They have two children, Max and Copper Hall.
Hall is excited to take over just in time for Vacation Bible School, which gets underway Monday, June 19. VBS, for children 4 years old through 6th-grade, will run through Friday, June 23.
For registration details, visit lcifoothills.org. For more information about LCIF in general, or to request/offer help, email office@lcifoothills.org, or call (818) 790-1951. The church is located at 1700 Foothill Blvd. in La Cañada Flintridge. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday.
