In honor of the La Cañada High School’s graduating Class of 2023, the senior parents recently donated $52,880 to the La Cañada Flintridge Educational Foundation’s Endowment Fund as a final thank you for the education their children have received.
“We look at our seniors and marvel at their transformation from wee kindergartners taking their hesitant first steps into elementary school to independent young adults ready to take on the world,” parents Melissa Mazin, Liza Olsen and Tamar Tujian said in a joint statement. “From the time our children started in the La Cañada Unified school system, we have committed ourselves to helping ensure a quality educational experience for them.
“One big part of that commitment has been support for the La Cañada Flintridge Educational Foundation,” the statement continued. “Early on, we recognized the importance of the programs and class-size reductions that are supported by the foundation and wanted to be sure that not only our own children would benefit, but future generations of La Cañada students would, too.”
The La Cañada Flintridge Educational Foundation’s Endowment Fund provides security to suture students.
“It functions as a sturdy foundation to ensure that La Cañada schools will always have resources available to provide future children with the same quality education our own children have enjoyed,” the statement said. “The growth of the Endowment Fund over the years has allowed it to be the single largest donor to the Annual Fund and, in turn, to LCUSD each year.”
LCFEF is a nonprofit organization founded to provide financial support to the La Cañada Flintridge Unified School District for its schools: La Cañada Elementary, Palm Crest Elementary, Paradise Canyon Elementary, La Cañada 7/8 High School and La Cañada High School.
