Kalyn & The New Frontier recently took the Music in the Park stage at Memorial Park to deliver a high-energy performance, playing a wide range of hits, from country to pop to ‘80s jams and rock tunes.
Audience members had a blast listening to the cover band, some sat back and let the music wash over them, while others got on their feet to dance it out.
Attendees love Music in the Park for a fun time, but it also offers them an opportunity to support students.
At the performance, the LCHS Band sold baked goods, and the LCHS Orchestra created balloon art, with proceeds from these efforts going toward their respective programs.
Kelly Sellman shared her vison for her Gold Project at the event and sold her homemade cookies to raise funds for it. Sellman is partnering with local nonprofit Girls on the Run. Her main hope for this project is that girls of all running abilities can learn to embrace their inner strength and love one another. This will benefit girls in the local elementary school. For more information, contact Sellman at sherunsonconfidence@gmail.com.
Additionally, Will Boyd and Carissa Rayer promoted a free summer mixer for community members to get to know the LCF Youth Council, with fun activities and snacks. The mixer will be held on Friday, Aug. 25, at Olberz Park (890 Foothill Blvd.) from 4-6 p.m.
