Over the month of July children of the community participated in a scavenger hunt to find Waldo in various businesses in La Cañada Flintridge hosted by the Flintridge Bookstore.
Find Waldo Local is a way to highlight local businesses, which started officially in 2012. The Flintridge Bookstore has participated in the event before and made a comeback this year after the pandemic.
Gail Mishkin, the event marketing and author manager for the bookstore, said that about 50 children and 25 businesses participated in the event.
“It was exciting to see children and parents so engaged and enthusiastic and also very satisfying to receive such a positive response to the program from local businesses,” said Mishkin. “We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who participated.”
The bookstore wants to participate in this event every year after receiving good feedback from the community.
“Despite the heat, everyone seemed to have fun,” said Mishkin. “I think parents are happy to have this local summer activity for their children, and businesses are appreciating the extra foot traffic.”
The bookstore celebrated with a pizza party for kids, which also included a final scavenger hunt, coloring and a speed word game.
