Chorba, Willingham Lead Wolves to Narrow Win

The Flintridge Prep varsity eight-man football team battled to a 44-42 nonleague victory at Cate High in Carpinteria on Saturday as senior quarterback Alex Chorba completed 14 passes for 275 yards and five touchdowns.
Senior Noah Willingham made five catches for 130 yards with eight tackles, while sophomore Will Grable had five receptions for 118 yards with six tackles. Sophomore Owen Willingham finished with three catches for 20 yards with two tackles, while junior John Battaglia rushed for 9 yards on three carries with eight tackles.
Junior Matthew Chen recorded five tackles, while junior Ray Cabrera and sophomore Nico Chapman each tallied four tackles. Senior Kevin Zhang and junior Josh Roberts each recorded three tackles, while sophomore Andrew Battaglia and freshman Nick Smith had one tackle.
The Wolves (2-0 overall) will host Mammoth High of Mammoth Lakes on Friday at 6 p.m. before visiting Thacher High in Ojai on Sept. 23.

ST. FRANCIS

The Golden Knights lost to visiting Millikan High of Long Beach 17-10 in a nonleague game last Friday as junior Griffin Ulrich finished with a pair of sacks.
“We played a very athletic and big team,” SFHS head coach Dean Herrington said. “We had our chances but didn’t get it done.”
SFHS (2-1 overall) will visit St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy in Downey for a nonleague game on Friday at 7 p.m. before visiting Sultana High in Hesperia on Sept. 15.
