CCLCF Thanksgiving Day Run/Walk, Food Drive This Fall

The Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge’s 30th annual Thanksgiving Day 5K Run/Walk, a decades-long community tradition for families, athletes and supporters, returns on Thursday, Nov. 23.
The professionally-timed race begins at 8:30 a.m. at Memorial Park. Cash prizes will be given to the top three finishers in the men’s and women’s divisions. Winners will also be announced in each age category.
The Kids’ Mile and Half-Mile Run are family-fun races geared for children 12 and younger. Parents may run alongside children who have registered. Kids will receive a T-shirt before the race and a medal as they cross the finish line. The Kids’ Run will begin at 9:30 a.m. for ages 8-12, followed by a second start for those under 8.
The Community Center’s Thanksgiving Day Food Drive is one of the largest such efforts in the foothill communities. Canned and other nonperishable food is collected during November at CCLCF as well as select businesses and schools throughout the area. Donations are distributed by the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station to local families in need.
The Community Center is a nonprofit organization established in 1949. It has served thousands of children and adults, offering a variety of enriching, recreational and educational opportunities for members of the LCF community and surrounding areas.
