LC Snaps Losing Streak, Finds Winning Stride

The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ water polo team earned a 12-8 nonleague victory over visiting Muir High of Pasadena on Sept. 7 to make it two wins in a row.
Junior Beckett Chung finished with 12 saves, while junior Tait Landswick racked up seven steals and four goals. Senior lan Wipfli recorded three steals and two goals, junior Alexander Abramian tallied two goals and two steals, and freshman Arshan Soltanzadeh contributed three steals and one goal. Freshman Liam Applegate finished with three steals and one goal, freshman Landon Karlich registered three steals and senior Connor Weightman had two steals.
The Spartans previously snapped a two-game losing streak by beating visiting Birmingham High of Lake Balboa 10-6 as Chung racked up 16 saves and one steal.
Wipfli finished with four goals and three steals, while Landswick collected seven steals and three goals. Soltanzadeh contributed two goals and two steals, while Abramian produced one goal and one steal. Applegate and Karlich each tallied two steals, while sophomore Max Hong had one steal.
LCHS (3-7 overall) will host Mark Keppel High of Alhambra for a nonleague game on Sept. 14 at 3:30 p.m. before hosting Crescenta Valley High of La Crescenta on Sept. 19.

ST. FRANCIS

The Golden Knights lost to Crescenta Valley High in La Crescenta 15-5 in a nonleague game on Sept. 6.
Junior Nicholas Karamian scored four goals, junior Gavin Johnson added one goal and junior Donovan Esquivel had one save.
SFHS lost to host Flintridge Prep 22-12 in a nonleague game on Sept. 6. Individual statistics were not reported to the Outlook Valley Sun by the St. Francis coaching staff.
The Golden Knights (0-4 overall, 0-2 in league) will visit Pasadena for a nonleague game on Sept. 19 at 3:30 p.m. before visiting Hoover High in Glendale on Sept. 22.

FLINTRIDGE PREP
The Wolves defeated visiting St. Francis High 22-12 in a nonleague game on Sept. 8 after suffering a 14-12 loss at Temple City on Sept. 5. Individual statistics were not reported to the Outlook Valley Sun by the Flintridge Prep coaching staff.
Flintridge Prep (5-5 overall) will visit Glendale for a nonleague game on Sept. 19 at 3:30 p.m. before opening Prep League action against Pasadena Polytechnic on Sept. 27.
