On Saturday, Sept. 30, La Cañada High School will offer the latest installment of its Challenge Success: Building Your Path career event, which will be open to students grades 6 through 12.
The event, which occurs every few years, is intended to offer students the opportunity to explore various career paths and to hear about some unusual career paths taken by many highly successful people.
About 35 career professionals, many of whom are parents in the district, will offer first-hand experience in a wide range of careers, including business, education, entertainment, science, technology, art, medicine, law, architecture, nonprofits, animation, finance, nursing and more.
We are excited to welcome keynote speaker Kai Ryssdal of National Public Media’s syndicated program “Marketplace.”
The event begins with check-in and a light breakfast at 8:15 a.m. in front of the LCHS auditorium. Ryssdal delivers his keynote address in the auditorium at 9 a.m.
Guests can sign up in advance to attend three separate 25-minute sessions of their choice.
A recap session in the auditorium makes room for students to think about their own paths, then the event is wrapped up with lunch provided by Jersey Mikes.
Admission is free, and students may sign up online and select three sessions that they wish to attend at https://buildingyourpath2023.sched.com.
A committee made up of administrators, parents and students organized this event in an effort to provide thought-provoking and inspirational career guidance.
Parents are welcome to join their children in attending this event.
The most recent Challenge Success: Building Your Path career event was held in 2018 with approximately 500 students attending.
