The Give-Mentor-Love Foundation held a fundraiser on Sept. 28 at the Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills to help build The Village — a transformative living and learning community designed to provide support and guidance to victims of sex trafficking who age out of foster care.
Approximately 150 attendees raised a staggering $1,037,000 for The Village, which will offer therapy, social and living-skills training, and guidance toward continuing education programs to help these survivors achieve independence and success.
“These girls are basically sex slaves and the video [shown to attendees] really brought that to light. This is a life they can’t escape from,” said Donna Pierson, founder and board chair of Give-Mentor-Love. “We had people raising their [donation] paddles; there was so much generosity in the room. People really care about these girls.”
Formed in 2019, Give-Mentor-Love has honed a tailored, individual approach to mentor and support L.A. County young adults and children who have been rescued from commercial sexual exploitation and human trafficking.
